Solal – Beta-Sitosterol 60 Capsules

Description

A natural plant wax, extracted from pine (not soy), the most concentrated beta-sitosterol source, which naturally contains additional sterols, such as campesterol and stigmasterol. It reduces the absorption of dietary cholesterol by the body. It also stimulates the TH1 part of the immune system (which fights infections), whilst suppressing the TH2 part (TH2 causes allergies and inflammation). In men, beta-sitosterol also helps reduce the conversion of testosterone into DHT (dihydrotestosterone), thereby protecting the prostate.

Product Composition
Each capsule contains the following as active ingredients:

Beta-sitosterol 100mg
Inactive ingredients: Hypromellose (cellulose) vegetarian capsule shell (gelatin free), microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate (vegetarian – flow agent), magnesium silicate, silicon dioxide and colloidal silicon dioxide. Contains plant extracts and natural fillers, with no colourants added – therefore the colour of the capsule contents may vary slightly from batch to batch.

Storage Instructions
Store in a cool dry place below 25°C. Keep out of the reach of children.

Pharmacological Action
Beta-sitosterol competitively inhibits the intestinal absorption of cholesterol by competing for the limited space in mixed micelles, decreasing total cholesterol absorption. Betasitosterol improves urinary symptoms and assists in increasing maximum urinary flow. Beta-sitosterol appears to exert immune-modulating affects by targeting specific T-helper lymphocytes, helping normalize their function and resulting in improved T-lymphocytes and natural killer cell activity.

Dosage Directions
For immune system health and prostate protection: Adults and children over 12 years of age: Take 1 capsule twice daily or as advised by your healthcare provider. Children 5 to 12 years of age: Take 1 capsule daily. Take with or shortly after meals. For cholesterol lowering: Adults and children over 12 years of age: Take 2-4 capsules twice daily, with or shortly after meals.

Product Warnings

Side Effects
Side effects may include nausea, indigestion, flatulence, diarrhoea or constipation.

Contraindications
There are no known contraindications.

Product Interactions
Ezetimibe: Ezetimibe inhibits the intestinal absorption of beta-sitosterol.
