Description

Product Indications
I3Complex™ is indicated for men and women to help protect cells from hormone-induced and other causes of cell and DNA mutations. Ideally I3Complex™ should be used preventatively and continuously, for cellular protection. At low dose, I3Complex™ has a protective effect, and may reduce the risk of developing cancers. At a higher dose, it can be used as part of a treatment programme. I3Complex™ contains optimal effective doses of these concentrated herbal and vegetable extracts. It can be combined with some cancer medication, but should be used with caution with chemo- or radiation therapy. If used as part of a treatment program that includes radiation therapy, I3Complex™ should only be used under the supervision of a medical practitioner.

Product Composition
Each daily dose (2 capsules) contains the following as active ingredients:
Cauliflower and Broccoli extracts:
I3C (Indole-3-Carbinol) 200mg
DIM (Di-Indole-Methane) 100mg Curcumax™ (A proprietary herbal extract complex of Curcumin, Resveratrol, Quercetin, Lycopene, EGCG, Co-enzyme Q10, Se-Methylselenocysteine (Selenium: SeSMC), Folic acid, Methylcobalamin, Vitamin B6, and Mixed Tocopherol (Vitamin E)) Inactive ingredients: Hypromellose (cellulose) vegetarian capsule shell (gelatin free), microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate (vegetarian – flow agent), magnesium silicate, silicon dioxide and colloidal silicon dioxide. Contains plant extracts and natural fillers, with no colourants added – therefore the colour of the capsule contents may vary slightly from batch to batch.

Pharmacological Action
Combines all natural medicines, from herbal and vegetable extracts, scientifically proven to help provide protection from the risks that promote cancer-cell formation and growth. I3Complex™ supplies extracts in the concentrated forms and doses used in clinical trials, is safe and has additional antioxidant, heart and immune system benefits. Researchers are interested in indole-3-carbinol and its major metabolite di-indolyl-methane (DIM) for cancer prevention, particularly breast, cervical and endometrial, and colorectal cancer, because studies show diets with higher amounts of fruit and vegetable consumption are associated with a decreased risk of developing cancer. Researchers are finding that indole-3-carbinol has a variety of effects on liver metabolism of toxins. Some researchers think indole-3-carbinol might be particularly helpful against hormone-dependent cancers such as breast cancer. Indole-3-carbinol induces cytochrome P450 1A1 and 1A2, which alters estrogen metabolism. Estradiol is normally metabolized to both 16-alpha-hydroxyestrone and 2-alpha-hydroxyestrone. The 16-alpha-hydroxyestrone metabolite has both genotoxic and tumorigenic effects and is thought to increase the risk of breast and cervical cancers. Indole-3-carbinol shifts metabolism of estradiol from 16-alpha-hydroxyestrone to the weaker estrogen and more benign 2-alpha-hydroxyestrone metabolite, possibly producing a protective effect against hormone-mediated cancers. Indole-3-carbinol also induces cytochrome P450 2B1, 2B2, 3A1, and 3A2, as well as phase II enzymes including glutathione S-transferase (GST), quinone reductase, and uridine diphosphate glucuronide transferase. The phase II enzyme induction seems to have a detoxifying effect by increasing water solubility and increasing excretion of carcinogenic toxins. There is some evidence that indole-3-carbinol might have other protective effects including antioxidant properties and might also cause cancer cell apoptosis and cell cycle arrest.
