South Africa. - Description of plant:
A small evergreen tree with shiny green leaves, bearing orange-like fruit. - Extraction:
Cold expression of the macerated peel. -
Charactersitics:
An orange-brown mobile liquid of strong, sweet citrus odour, with an amine-like top note and rich, floral undertone.
TOP TO MIDDLE NOTE. - Odour effects:
Uplifting. - Cautions:
May be phototoxic, so avoid strong sunlight after use. -
Main chemical constituents:
Methyl anthranilate – 1%
Sinsensal, citral, citronellal – 1%
y-Terpinene, limonene, myrcene, p-cymene – 90%
linalool, citronellol, octanol – 5% -
Properties and indications:
MIND:
Refreshing aroma helps ease depression and anxiety.
BODY:
Stimulates appetite, particularly after illness.
Could stimulate the liver, helping to regulate metabolic processes, and aids the secretion of bile. Is calming to the intestines, and good for expelling gas.
SKIN:
Can be used with neroli and lavender to lessen stretch marks. -
Other uses:
Used in the flavour and soft drinks industry.
