Herbal Force is a herbal liquid cough mixture formulated to ease coughing, relieve congestion and irritation of the air passages, and loosen mucus. The current version “now contains Pelargonium sidoides (Umckaloabo), which is claimed to reduce infection and inflammation in the air passages. The product is stated to be free of added sugar, colourants and preservatives; safe for children and diabetics, and marketed for general supportive use in coughs.

Key Ingredients:

Each 5 ml of the mixture contains approximately:

• 26 mg Pimpinella anisum (anise)

• 1 490 mg Glycyrrhiza glabra aqueous (licorice)

• 52 mg Inula helenium (elecampane)

• 52 mg Marrubium vulgare (horehound)

• 52 mg Prunus serotina (wild cherry bark)

• 52 mg Pulmonaria officinalis (lung‐wort)

• 52 mg Pelargonium sidoides

• 15 mg Thymus vulgaris (thyme)

• 52 mg Lobelia inflata (Indian tobacco)

• 30% Alcohol by volume (v/v)

Usage & Warnings:

• Dosage: Adults: 1 teaspoon (~5 ml) 3 times daily (or as advised by a healthcare practitioner). For children under 8 years: ½ teaspoon three times daily, diluted in a little water.

• Contraindications / Warnings:

  • Contains glycyrrhiza (licorice) which is contraindicated in hypertension.

  • Lobelia may be contra‑indicated in people on heart medication.

  • Marrubium may be contraindicated during pregnancy.

  • Prunus serotina not to be used in early pregnancy.

  • “No cough mixture should be used continuously without consulting a practitioner.”

  • Store in a cool, dark place below ~25°C. Keep out of reach of children.
