Eucalyptus Globulus, known as Blue Gum, is the most commonly used and economical of the Eucalyptus oils. It is reported to hold antiseptic, antimicrobial and antiviral properties, having a positive effect on Arthritis, bronchitis, catarrh, cold sores, colds, coughing, fever, flu, poor circulation, and sinusitis. It is also claimed to alleviate common lung ailments.
Eucalyptus is also used as an insect repellant.
Major constituents:
a-pinene, b-pinene, a-phellandrene, 1,8-cineole, limonene, terpinen-4-ol, aromadendrene, epiglobulol, piperitone and globulol.
Caution: due to its 1,8 cineole content, Eucalyptus Globulus Essential Oil may cause CNS and breathing problems in young children. Do not use Eucalyptus Globulus Oil on or near the face of children under 1 year old.
