Description

Vital – Chelafer 24MG (30 Taps)

Chelafer provides 24 mg of elemental iron per tablet, typically in a chelated (gentle, easily absorbed) form to help reduce stomach discomfort. It is commonly used to help prevent or manage iron deficiency and anemia, especially in individuals with increased iron needs.

Active & Main Ingredients:

  • Iron (from ferrous BI glycinate chelate 120 mg) — provides 24 mg elemental iron

  • Folic acid — 250 µg

Other (Inactive) Ingredients:

These help form the tablet and improve stability/absorption:

  • Calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate

  • Castor oil

  • Flexicoat™ (coating)

  • Magnesium stearate

  • Maize starch

  • Microcrystalline cellulose

  • Polyvinylpyrrolidone

  • Shellac

  • Silicon dioxide

  • Sodium lauryl sulphate

  • Talc

  • Purified water

✅ Main Benefits:

1. Supports Healthy Iron Levels
Provides elemental iron, which helps prevent or correct iron deficiency.

2. Helps with Red Blood Cell Production
Iron is essential for making hemoglobin — the protein in blood that carries oxygen around the body.

3. May Reduce Symptoms of Low Iron
Can help lessen tiredness, weakness, shortness of breath, and poor concentration if caused by low iron.

4. Gentler on the Stomach
Chelated iron (like in Chelafer) is often easier to absorb and may cause less stomach discomfort than some other iron forms.

5. Includes Folic Acid
Folic acid supports cell growth and can further help with healthy red blood cell formation.

⚠️ Important:

These benefits apply when iron levels are low or a healthcare provider recommends supplementation. Iron supplements should only be taken under medical guidance because too much iron can be harmful.

💊 What It’s Used For:

Iron supplements are commonly used when:

  • Blood tests show low iron levels or anemia.

  • A person has symptoms of low iron such as tiredness or weakness.

  • A healthcare provider has recommended it (especially common in people with heavy menstrual bleeding, pregnancy, or certain health conditions).

⚠️ Important Safety Notes:

  • You should only take iron supplements like this if a doctor or nurse tells you to — too much iron can be harmful, especially for someone who doesn’t actually need it.

  • Follow the dosage your healthcare provider gives you.

  • Iron can cause side effects like stomach upset or constipation in some people.

🩺 When to Talk to a Healthcare Provider:

  • If you think you might have low iron (e.g., feeling very tired, pale skin).

  • If you’re already taking a multivitamin or another iron product — don’t combine them without advice.

  • If you experience stomach pain, vomiting, black stools, or other concerning symptoms while taking iron.
